Wow, what a year! 2021 was definitely a roller coaster at times, but through all the obstacles and with your support we have come out the other end with so much to be excited about. It is so important, especially through difficult times to sit back and take stock of all the positives (we’d highly encourage you to do the same) and that’s exactly what this blog is about. So here’s our 2021 in a nutshell.
Continually improving the product
We are nothing without our garments, the staff that make them, and our in-house garment technologist. These things are the heart and soul of this company and the reason that we started in the first place, so it wouldn’t make sense to just keep them the same year after year.
Instead, we constantly listen to your feedback and try to find new and exciting ways to improve on them. A good example of that for this year would be the new design on our beloved raglan shirts. We’ve updated the neckline to provide not only a better fit, but also improved strength to make for an even longer lasting garment.
It is only with your feedback that we’re able to do this, so we’re incredibly grateful for it!
Partnering with the largest Crossfit event in Africa
We wish we could list every exciting client that we’ve had the pleasure of working with throughout the year, but that’s basically each and every one! So in the interest of keeping this blog a reasonable length, we’ll highlight one, The Battle.
Started by an amazing group of people with a serious passion for Crossfit and fitness in general, The Battle has become the largest Crossfit event in the whole of Africa, and we were honored to be chosen to make and print all of the competitors shirts. Being a part of this amazing event was definitely a highlight for us this year.
Partnering with Door Of Hope
This one is very close to our hearts and we’re absolutely ecstatic about it. Door Of Hope is an incredible children’s mission based in Johannesburg that takes in, cares for, and rehomes abandoned babies. Upon learning about them we immediately knew that we wanted to contribute in any way we can, so we came up with a sustainable way to do it moving forward.
From 2021 onward, every 10 garments that we sell contributes one food or clothing item to Door Of Hope, meaning that every order you place helps out a child in need. The best part about this is that it is of no extra cost to our customers, but it is absolutely changing lives in the best way possible.
Helping those who help others
We’ve also done some smaller things here and there wherever we can see someone who’s working to truly make a difference. One of those people without a doubt this year was Buhle, owner and founder of Vuma Pop-Up Cinema.
Based in Khayelitsha, Buhle started a bin cleaning business in order to generate income, and he uses this income to put on screenings of movies for kids in impoverished areas that wouldn’t be able to afford seeing them otherwise. Buhle is incredibly passionate about movies as a means of teaching the youth, and therefore chooses them very carefully.
This is the perfect example of someone taking initiative to do something that makes a real difference in their community, and therefore we were so happy to help him out with some custom shirts for him, his partners, and the kids.
Moving to a new home
We seem to have a habit of outgrowing our space quite quickly, a lot of you will remember that we moved to 44 Stanley Avenue in late 2020. Well, we did it again. After a little over a year at our beloved new home, the time had come to move again, and we couldn’t be more grateful for the amazing space we found.
Situated in the heart of Johannesburg, Victoria Yards is a beautiful collective of creatives, artists and businesses that fits us like an absolute glove. This move happened on the 1st of December, and thankfully, went off without a hitch! If you haven’t already visited us, we cannot wait to see you!
Launching In.It Dropship
Last, but certainly not least, we finally got to launch In.It Dropship! We’re incredibly proud to have been able to bring this type of service to South Africa and for those of you that have signed up for it, you’ll understand why.
In a nutshell, this allows you to start a business with practically no capital investment as you do not need to purchase any stock before making a sale. All you need is a Shopify store that’s linked to our app and you can make sales without ever running out of stock, and you don’t even have to worry about shipping individual orders to your customers.
We take care of everything so you only have to worry about designing your products, marketing and growing your brand. In a country with so much entrepreneurial spirit, we cannot wait to see all of the success stories that this innovative service will lead to.
And that’s our year in a nutshell. There was, of course, a lot more than this that happened, but these were the absolute highlights for us. While it has definitely been a difficult year, we came out the other end with a lot to be proud of and grateful for, and that’s only been possible because of all of you. Thank you.
We’ll see you in 2022!
